Investments

Every now and then, a lady takes a good look at her wardrobe, and her spending priorities...
and decides she must invest in some silk shirts.

Sometimes, a lady is just sick of buying junk that doesn't last or doesn't feel nice in the first place.
I bought the first two ;-) You should buy the others. (asos.com and forevernew.com.au)

A Lady does not conform...

...to the silly cultural practices of other people.

The concept of a festival celebrating the macabre, the fear-inducing, and some things which we all know don't exist, is not lady-like.
If we were in America, perhaps we could instead celebrate the fall crops and the autumn leaves that coincide with Halloween. But we are not.

Instead, Australians should celebrate a national holiday, the Spring Festival, on October 31. We can have parties to celebrate flowers and our locally grown and produced foods. This would not only be more lady-like, but also more cultrally and nationally appropriate. You could even celebrate the moon (I hear some people find it to be quite romantic).

While we've always known about Halloween, this is honestly the first year I have heard of many parties, celebrations, store sales etc celebrating this event. We are conforming to America in a tradition that doesn't apply to us. Thanksgiving would be a better traditional holiday for us to adopt.

Anyway. Be a lady. And don't wear Black. It's not a colour.

A Lady Should be Concerned with...

All things pink.

When I was choosing a colour scheme for my bedroom a few years back I did some reading into the psychology of colour. Many people think of yellow as being a very happy colour, but I read in multiple places that couples are more likely to fight in yellow rooms (perhaps it just brings out passion, not necessarily happiness!). Should I ever get into a couple (ha!) I would not like even something as trivial as the colour of the room to interfere with our chances...

It turns out the colour PINK is pretty much the happiest colour. I can personally attest to this as I painted my nails an iridescent pink on Saturday night and smile every single time I look at them. Fact.

However, many of my friends are troubled by picking colours to wear, so I thought I'd give a little lesson in wearing pink.

If you are, well, me, or say, Diana Agron, these are your summer pinks

If you are my cousin Claire A, or like, Lea Michelle, your pinks will be these winter ones. There is also a very rare winter pastel pink. Think a very pale version of the LH summer one, and in a satin/shiny fabric.

If you are Anna M, Anna H or Heather Morris or Jayma Mays, you'll look best in these spring pinks (we all know Anna H shines in the last two)

And finally, if you are the lovely Astrid H, or my sister Nicole, your choice of pinks isn't great. You can get away with the spring pinks if you want to risk it, but these two below are your best picks... on the peachy side.

Now that you know what you'll look good in... go ahead... buy! :-)

I referred to the book 'Colour Me Beautiful' to double check my classifications ;-)

It's my party and I'll make you eat cake if I want to

Welcome to my little blog. I'll be writing about food, fashion, love, music, culture, etiquette and other things a lady should concern herself with.

That said, while I claim to be a lady, I am not a perfect one. Luckily I am a work in progress.
Evidence: A few weeks ago I made a resolution to NEVER again talk with my mouth full of food. My niece did it in front of me and it was disgusting.

Enjoy! :-)
